END OF AN ERA NOTICE: The Gibson Glass Company officially closed it's door on 15 July 2006. Charles Gibson opened the doors of his contemporary art glass company from June 1976 to June 1977. He then closed the doors to resume his calling as an ordained minister. Mr. Gibson reopened his company in 1983 and remained in business in Milton, W. Virginia until July 2006. The furnaces ceased production in March 2005. Over 100 items (tumblers, figurines, scent bottles, cruets, rose bowls, carafe set, pitchers, baskets, pen holders, tea pots, sulfide, snakeskin, sculptured art glass (free form), and other style paperweights; sulfide and snakeskin marbles, etc. ) will be offered for you to collect. All items are in MINT (display only condition). Many items will be photographed with both natural lighting and atop of a light box. Unless noted - all items are signed GIBSON and dated. Dimensions provided of each items are approximate.
This is a 1985 L.E. of 50 Black Americana "Kewpie" Paperweight. The paperweight is signed Gibson - 1985 on the recessed base with controlled bubbles. There are only five remaining in this collection. They had been stashed away by the collector. There are no flaws. What a wonderful piece to add to either your Black Americana or paper weight collection. No two are exactly alike. NOTE! Mr. Gibson worked for the St. Clair Glass Co. until they closed. (1 LB., 10.3 OZ)
